£0.00

A Film screening celebrating the different issues the GM Systems Changers community represents, Elevate Young Minds applies film to bring access to difficult conversations and social movements. Since the creation of AFF, we have always aimed to apply the power of film to share stories, history, knowledge, ideas, and emotions. This screening invites you to celebrate the GM system changer through provoking, challenging and comedic selection of films discuss the following issues and more in an intersectional manner.

1. CLIMATE CHANGE 2. INEQUALITY 3. MENTAL HEALTH 4. POVERTY 5. RACISM

This screening will features DISPLACED

Displaced is the cinematic reimagining of Akeim Toussaint Buck’s one-man dance theatre show: ‘Windows of Displacement’. Co-Directed and Produced by Ashley Karrell, the film continues the exploration of themes such as: displacement, race, culture and imperialism. Focussing more on the African Diaspora via the settings of the inner-city community. Taking aspects of the live work and re-contextualising them in real-life spaces that support in amplifying this feeling of displacement. Giving the viewer a fraction of the feeling of being displaced people. Visually captivating with striking imagery and virtuoso dance, ‘Displaced’ takes the viewer on a journey calling for reflection and global change.

Written and Performed by Akeim Toussaint Buck Directed by Akeim Toussaint Buck & Ashley Karrell Cinematography by James Williams Produced by Ashley Karrell Executive Producer: Akeim Toussaint Buck
